For this last update, we will be finishing up our cleaning the bathroom with wiping down the shower walls and corners, scrubbing with a grout brush, unclogging shower drains, and rinsing away the dirt to reveal a sparkling clean shower!

Tackling the Shower and Bathtub

As mentioned before, the shower and bathtub can have a plethora of dirt, grime, oils, soap scum, and residue build up from frequent use. Additionally, some of the chemicals left behind from shower products can cause residue build up as well. We’ll be removing these residues to make sure your bathroom gets to sparkle like new!

Now that you’ve left your shower cleaning agents dissolve most of the harder deposits of soap scum, dirt, and possible mildew, begin to wipe everything clean from top to bottom. If you’ve spent a bit too long in other areas, you may need to spray again to make it easier to wipe. Try to pay close attention to corners of your shower as well, as there can be serious build up of residue in these locations.

Tackle your shower from top to bottom. If you are working on a bathtub only, then clean it using the same top to bottom method. Wipe away all of the dirt and residue build up, finishing with the shower or bath tub floor. A nice bath scrubber may be needed to get the problem areas where there is a lot of build up

A Grout Brush Is Awesome And You Should Get One!

For cleaning your shower tile, we’d recommend using a grout brush. A grout brush can lift up the dirt that’s found its way into the porous grout in between each tile. This can also minimize the amount of mildew that has built up in these spaces as well.

Another use for the grout brush is to help clean tile floors as well! You can pick up the dirt that’s sitting in the grout on your living room, kitchen, and bedroom floors as well. You’d be surprised how clean a grout brush and good grout cleaner can live your tiled surfaces.

And Now It’s Time To Rinse!

To finish, we’d recommend using either your detachable shower head or attaching a separate detachable shower head to the faucet to rinse away everything. It’ll be easier to use a detachable shower head than using a regular shower head, and if you have to buy one, they are pretty inexpensive. You can also use the detachable shower head for other cleaning activities, like when you have to rinse your oven racks or even for giving your pets a bath!

How To Deal With Shower Drain Clogs

As you’ve probably guessed, there’s an easy way to deal with drain clogs if you do not currently have a chemical agent on hand. You can use baking soda and vinegar to help clear away most blockages. For clearing out a blockage using this method, perform the following steps:

  • Pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain and wait a few minutes
  • Pour 1 cup of vinegar down the drain and cover the drain if possible
  • Wait a few hours to let the baking soda and vinegar mixture to break down the blockage
  • Start boiling a pot of water
  • Pour the boiling hot water down the drain to help clear the blockage

As mentioned before, this method may work to clear most blockages, however you may need to resort to harder chemicals for more serious clogs. If you are a bit more handy, you can remove the drain cover yourself, put on heavy duty cleaning gloves and try to locate the blockage yourself. If you are having more issues, you can always hire a professional plumber to take care of it.

Mopping The Floors!

The last step of cleaning your sparkling bathroom smelling great is to mop! Mix your cleaning solution with water and thoroughly mop the floor. If you have your grout cleaner and brush, you can also clean the additional dirt build up before or after mopping. This can help with fully cleaning your bathroom floors, especially if they are tiled!

Let the floor dry, and slowly put your bathroom rugs and mats back into place, as well as all of the items you’ve had to remove from your bathroom to clean. You are finally finished! Hopefully your bathroom is sparkling clean!

We recommend cleaning your bathroom thoroughly at least once a week to minimize hard water and mildew build up!
