When it comes to your living room, this is usually the area that most guests see in your home. This may also be the room that takes up most of the space in your home. Whether you use this area for entertaining or for hanging out with the family, we want to make sure you’re able to present the best version of your living room, possible!

Clean Up Any Additional Clutter

Before you really get into deep cleaning your living room, make sure you that you pick up and throw away things that may have accumulated on your coffee table, any desks, or chairs. You want to make sure that this area is as clutter-free as possible for an easy cleaning experience. By removing any additional clutter, you also make sure that you get all areas where dirt and dust can hide!

Clean From Top To Bottom!

The best tip you can use for your living room and any room in your house is to clean from top to bottom. This means to start with your ceiling and ceiling fans using an extending duster to really get the dust and any cobwebs that may be up there. Since dust and dirt fall, it is possible that if you wipe down a table that you’ll have to wipe the table again after dusting your ceiling fans. Vacuuming the floor or mopping should be one of the last things you do! At this point, it’s time to make a cleaning checklist of everything that needs to be taken care of!

Cleaning Your Ceiling and Wiping Down Ceiling Fans

One of the best ways to get any dust or cobwebs off of your ceiling is to use an extending microfiber duster. This will make it easier to reach the corners of your ceiling where cobwebs and dust mites can form. If you have any vents along the walls for central air, make sure that you also wipe those down as well. This is a good time to also wipe down any light fixtures with a cloth.

For your ceiling fan, I recommend using a microfiber cloth to wipe down each individual blade. Depending on the type of ceiling fans you have, you can use certain cleaners to help polish and leave a shine on the ceiling fan blades. For example, you can spray pledge on a cloth and wipe down wood based ceiling fans.

What If You Have Paintings On The Wall?

If you have paintings with frames, make sure that you take great care in wiping the dust off these items. We’d recommend using a very lightly damp cloth to wipe dust off of frames and try to not use too much water. Water can very easily damage paintings and the frames if too much is used on the cloth.

If your painting has been up for awhile, it’s a good idea to remove it from the wall to see if any dust has accumulated behind the painting as well! Any other forms of art, like small statues, can be wiped down with a damp cloth as well. Try to just be very careful of excessive moisture on most art items.

Microfiber Cloths For Your Electronics!

If your living room is primarily used for entertaining, either others or yourself, you will notice you have items that collect a lot of dust. Electrical items naturally attract dust mites and can cause build up to happen very quickly if it’s not taken care of. You can most likely find dust on your television if you wipe it down every single day in some locations.

We highly recommend using microfiber cloths that are static free to make sure you do not accidentally damage your electronic items. Some items, if they experience a shock, can completely damage the components inside.

For your televisions and monitors, make sure that you do not use cleaning agents to wipe down the screens of these devices. It is best to use a microfiber cloth, or a lightly damp cloth followed by a microfiber cloth to really get these items cleaned of dust and fingerprints.

Like with framed paintings, be very careful with the corners where your screen and outside bezel have gaps. If water or moisture gets behind the screen, that item can be damaged and may need to be replaced. Once you wipe down the screen and corners of these items with the damp cloth, make sure you follow up with a dry cloth to remove excess moisture.
